How Contract and Supplier Management Solutions Drive Real Procurement Value

20 June 2025

Contract Management Digital Transformation SRM

An interview with Kate Stavrides, Atamis Product Manager

“Contracts and suppliers shouldn’t be managed in isolation.”

In many organisations, contract and supplier management solutions sits at the heart of procurement but too often it’s trapped in inboxes, spreadsheets or outdated legacy systems.

We sat down with our Product Manager, Kate Stavrides, to explore how our Contract and Supplier App supports Atamis’ clients in unlocking value, reducing risk and empowering teams to focus on strategic procurement.

One Platform for Contract and Supplier Management Solutions

“Contracts and suppliers shouldn’t be managed in isolation,” Kate begins. “A contract is only as valuable as the supplier’s ability to deliver on it. The supplier relationship is only sustainable if the contract is clear and key data points are monitored within a digital system. If your procurement team can’t visualise and track supplier KPIs, it’s so difficult to actually know how efficient your sourcing function is.”

It’s this philosophy that underpins Atamis’ product catalogue. While many systems treat contract management and supplier management as separate disciplines, ours brings the two together in one App. “We wanted a product offering that truly made sense to procurement people and that was creating a viewpoint where contracts and suppliers could live under one umbrella App and the data could seamlessly empower teams to draw actionable insights”.

Key Features Built for Real-World Procurement

So what does that look like in practice?

On the contract side, Kate highlights three core capabilities:

  • Centralised contract repository
  • Automated alerts for renewals, negotiations and expiries
  • Full audit trail and version control, so nothing falls through the cracks

“The automation piece is huge,” Kate says. “When clients first come onboard with us, a lot of the time they might be moving from spreadsheets to their first digital solution. Being able to give them the tools to really remove the pressure of having to manually stay abreast of where each contract is in its lifecycle is great. There’s no more missed renewals or last-minute panics. The system flags what’s coming up and who’s responsible.

On the supplier side, Atamis functionality focuses on insight and oversight:

  • Single supplier view, with performance, risk and compliance data in one place
  • Customisable segmentation, so you can treat strategic suppliers differently from tactical ones
  • Collaboration tools, making it easier to track communications, actions and meetings

“Having that holistic supplier view tied directly to their contracts means teams can make better decisions, faster,” Kate explains. “For us it’s all about visibility, the better the data structure we can give our clients and the more usable the data is for our clients the more they can draw insights that actually impact their ability to drive value through their contracts.”

Solving Real Problems for Procurement Teams

We asked Kate what kinds of challenges clients are coming to us with.

“A lot of it comes down to visibility and control,” she says. “One new client started off with supplier data spread across three different legacy tools and contracts stored in a shared drive. They had no idea which suppliers were linked to which contracts, who owned what and version control was pretty much non-existent.”

“After implementing our Contract and Supplier App”, Kate continues “they’ve consolidated their contract and supplier data, set up alerts for key dates and created a tiered supplier dashboard. They can track supplier KPIs and clearly spot shortfalls when there’s still time to put a recovery plan in place. That particular team can now focus on strategic activity, rather than manual tasks”.

Built to Fit Your Maturity Level

One of the most compelling aspects of the Atamis solution is its modular design.

“We know not everyone’s ready to go all-in at once, and that’s okay,” says Kate. “Some clients start with our Contract & Supplier App, others initially implement our Pipeline App and then add in greater functionality later.”

With Atamis, you can build your toolkit based on your current pain points and grow over time.

For some Atamis clients, choosing from their portfolio of integrations is where the solution becomes truly best-fit.

“We’ve built our solution on the Salesforce Platform for quite a few reasons. Our products seamlessly link up with each other enabling that smooth flow of data informing each part of the solution and therefore each part of the sourcing lifecycle.”

However, there’s also the added benefit of the Salesforce App exchange which gives our clients a near endless catalogue of integrations to enhance and enrich their data.

“Procurement shouldn’t live in silos” Kate continues, “the value multiplies when your digital tools talk to each other, informing decisions and really making your data work hard for you.”

What’s Next in Contract and Supplier Management Product Development?

Kate is particularly excited about the future of automation and AI in procurement.

“Although we already offer automation or orchestration in our solution today, we are looking at how we maximise the level of automation to support our end users. We’re also always exploring ways implementing AI could proactively support procurement teams with risk mitigation, as well as opportunities to drive value and overall optimisation of the procurement team”.

But even with new tech on the horizon, Kate brings it back to the basics: “Sometimes, the biggest win is solving an issue that may seem like low-hanging fruit but if it creates irritation for our clients then that’s the work worth doing. We’re currently preparing to launch our Supplier Duplication and Merge Integration which is powered by Clear MDM.”

The integration will allow procurement teams to easily spot duplicate supplier records within the system and merge or cleanse them quickly and all within their Atamis system. Clean data empowers confident procurement.
