Proud to Support the Armed Forces Community
At Atamis, we’re proud to have signed the Armed Forces Covenant.
We did this to formalise our ongoing commitment to supporting those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces and their families.
For us, this pledge isn’t just a piece of paper, it reflects our values and culture as a business. We believe in being supportive and trustworthy; these are two of our organisational values. Signing the Covenant is a natural step in recognising the dedication and sacrifices made by service personnel, veterans, reservists and their families. It’s our way of showing our respect and doing our part to create a more inclusive and supportive workplace and society.
Our Commitments
By signing the Armed Forces Covenant, we have pledged to uphold its key principles:
Members of the Armed Forces Community should not face disadvantages arising from their service in the provision of public and commercial services. In some circumstances special provision may be justified, especially for those who have given the most, such as the injured or bereaved. We recognise the contribution that Service personnel, reservists, veterans, the cadet movement and military families make to our organisation, our community and to the country.
We will seek to uphold the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant by:
- Supporting Reservists by offering them additional days of annual leave (paid/ unpaid) in order to carry out their duties
- Offering work placements to Veterans seeking employment
- Supporting the employment of Service spouses, partners and dependants, by offering short/ no notice leave to those whose partners are sent on deployment
- Offering additional (paid/ unpaid) annual leave to Cadet Force Adult Volunteers to help them carry out their training requirement
- Considering ways in which remote working solutions might benefit the mobile Armed Forces Community, especially partners and spouses
- Promoting the Armed Forces Covenant, the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme and Atamis’ support for the Armed Forces Community to our employees, clients, supply chains and the wider public
- Supporting/ promoting Armed Forces events, such as Armed Forces Day/ Week, Reserves Day, the Poppy Appeal and Remembrance activities
- Using the Covenant and Employer Recognition Scheme logos in our sales & marketing materials
- Maintaining a section on our website detailing our commitments to supporting veterans and reserve volunteers
- Engaging with and supporting local Armed Forces charities, for example by supporting their fundraising activities.
A First-Hand Perspective
I served 20 years in the Royal Engineers (Bomb Disposal). The position took me all over the world, to some of the harshest conditions – this made many of the skills I learned highly adaptable to civilian life. Moving from the Armed Forces into civilian life is very challenging. It entails not only a change in career but often includes buying a house for the first time, moving location, moving your family as well as possibly adapting to life-changing injuries. This can be extremely stressful.
I left the Army after being injured and experienced this difficult situation first-hand.
I struggled to find a company where I fitted in well. I first encountered Atamis when they were a supplier for an organisation I was working with.
From a distance I saw their values and commitment to their employees. When the opportunity came up to join the Atamis family I jumped at it. I have now been with Atamis for over two years and they fully support me as a member of the Atamis family. Atamis is truly inclusive and a fantastic company to work for.
Forces personnel have a lot to offer civilian companies but can sometimes struggle with demonstrating how their experiences can transfer into a civilian work environment. It means a lot to me that Atamis has signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant to support employees and future employees like me.
